In Toruń there is a periodical restriction for entry of truck/lorries over 18 tons of weight. Such vehicles must not enter the city from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 7.p.m.
The above restriction does not apply to buses and to the emergency service vehicles of: Fire Department, Police, the Army, Toruń Municipal Police, Road Maintenance, Ambulance Service, Waterworks and Sewage Authority, Heating Company, Electric Company, municipal services while on duty and other services or entities acting on emergency.
The above restriction does not apply to vehicles that have obtained special permits from the Municipal Road Management Authority.
How to obtain the permit?
The permits are issued based on an application submitted at the office of the Municipal Road Management Authority (MZD) in Toruń at 159 Grudziądzka street, from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.. The application may be submitted in person, by mail, by fax or by e-mail.
If the data of a particular vehicle cannot be specified, it is possible to apply for a permit to bearer.
Permits to enter the restricted zone are issued within 14 days from the date of submission of the properly justified and documented application. When the permit is issued it must be collected at the place where the application was submitted. On applicant’s request included in the application, the permit may be sent by mail at the indicated address.
The permit must be placed behind the windshield so that all the data are clearly visible. The permit does not relieve from the obligation to abide by the applicable traffic regulations and the special traffic regulations for the Old Town area in Toruń – others than those for which the permit is granted.
